The Sai Prema Foundation Fiji has significantly enhanced its medical outreach capabilities with the generous donation of a 35-seater bus from Swire Shipping. This new vehicle will facilitate the transportation of visiting medical specialists and improve rural health services across the nation.
The Foundation expressed that this addition will bolster its efforts to deliver vital healthcare services and extend its outreach to communities, affirming its ongoing collaborations with organizations such as Swire Shipping. Over the last nine years, the Sai Prema Foundation has greatly impacted healthcare access for many families, achieving milestones that include over 394 free heart surgeries, 36,211 heart screenings, and 66,735 free medical check-ups.
Dr. Krupali Tappoo, director at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital, highlighted that the bus will provide safe and efficient transport for medical professionals dedicated to treating children with heart conditions. She emphasized the importance of this donation, stating, “This bus is really going to help us with transporting all our visiting specialists that come to perform surgeries at our hospital. We also do a lot of heart screening throughout the country.”
Dr. Tappoo noted that maintaining high standards is crucial to their operation, thereby reflecting the quality and impact of the services they provide. “I think it’s a very generous donation… the fact that it’s of such high quality is really amazing, because for us at Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital, and Sai Prema Foundation, standards are really important.”
Alexander Patterson, the Regional Manager for Swire Shipping in the Pacific, expressed pride in their ongoing partnership with the Sai Prema Foundation. He commended the foundation’s accomplishments, emphasizing the significant contributions to children’s health throughout Fiji, stating, “What you’ve done with 430 kids, plus all the screenings you do… you should be very proud of what you’ve achieved.”
This collaborative effort not only highlights the positive impact of philanthropy on community health but also instills hope for many families who rely on these essential services. The continued support from Swire Shipping ensures that the Foundation can sustain and expand its vital healthcare programs, further enhancing the quality of life for children with health challenges in Fiji.
