The Fiji Senior Golfers tournament, backed by Asco Motors, took place over the weekend at the Natadola Golf Course in Nadi. According to Susan Yee, Secretary of the Fiji Golf Club, the event saw participation from 70 players in a two-person Ambrose format, drawing competitors from various regions including the West, Pacific Harbour, Australia, and the Fiji Golf Club.
Yee noted the impressive turnout of 20 female golfers, which included prominent players like Susan Joyce, Barbara O’Neil, and Heather Atu from Nadi, as well as Tema Buadromo from Australia. Other notable participants from the Fiji Golf Club included Barbara Nasara, Mua Rawlinson, and Caroline Chang.
Prizes were awarded to the top six teams, along with special recognition for the Nearest-to-the-Pin on all Par 3s and Longest Drives for both male and female competitors, made possible through the support of Asco Motors Limited. Additionally, two lucky draw vouchers were given away, and participants enjoyed a delicious lunch courtesy of the Natadola team.
The tournament’s results highlighted the following placements: Indar Wajan and Joeli secured 6th place with 67.5 points, while Asim Hussein and Thiphait Hussein finished 5th with 67 points. Kamal Singh and Naveen Chand took 4th with 66.5 points, and Jack Lee and Rookie completed 3rd with 66 points. In 2nd place were Linda Callaghan and Vidhya Lakhan with 65.75 points, while Carol Wright and Susan Joyce emerged as champions, finishing 1st with 64 points.
