The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has introduced a loyalty program aimed at rewarding sugar cane growers across the nation. This initiative seeks to enhance the value offered to these growers by partnering with a variety of essential service and product providers, which is expected to improve their quality of life.
SCGF chairperson Ahemad Bhamji emphasized the program’s distinctive nature, noting that participation does not require growers to be customers of SCGF. The initiative has involved extensive outreach to various providers, including those specializing in farm machinery, contractors, building materials, medical services, mobile phone services, and ICT products.
Bhamji mentioned that partners have agreed to offer discounts—ranging from 2% to 10%—to growers upon presentation of their loyalty cards, resulting in significant savings. The SCGF is also in discussions with two petroleum companies to further expand the program’s benefits. Importantly, there will be no membership fees for growers during the initial three years of the program, making it accessible to all registered productive cane growers.
Given that the sugar cane industry consists of over 10,500 productive growers, the program aims to leverage their combined buying power to secure the best deals available. GEM IT has been selected as the solution provider for the loyalty card, which is set to launch on December 15.
