The Suva Retailers Association has prioritized mental health by announcing a series of fundraising events scheduled for the upcoming months. This initiative has emerged due to the rising concerns about the effects of mental health issues within the community.
Jitesh Patel, the President of the Suva Retailers Association, emphasized that mental health challenges affect individuals across all demographics. The association aims to involve businesses, community groups, and individuals in its efforts to raise awareness, enhance support services, and fortify community networks in the city.
Patel revealed plans for 2026, mentioning, “As an organization, we take social responsibility quite seriously. We are planning to have a couple of fundraisers, especially focusing on mental health and related issues.” He explained that mental health will remain a central theme in the association’s outreach initiatives.
In addition to the mental health campaign, the association announced plans to install more rubbish bins and enhance footpaths and walkways. These projects are part of a broader strategy to maintain cleanliness and accessibility in Suva, while also addressing practical concerns such as blocked drains and overall maintenance.
This proactive approach by the Suva Retailers Association showcases a commitment to nurturing mental health awareness and fostering a supportive community, positioning Suva as a model for social responsibility in urban settings.
