Suva Football Club President Nitin Singh expressed his pride in the team’s commendable performance against Labasa in the 16th round of the Extra Premier League at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Sunday. Despite being in a challenging position with five players absent due to their commitments with the national futsal team, Suva managed to hold Labasa to a 1-1 draw.

Labasa initially took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Christopher Wasasala. However, Suva found their equalizer through Remueru Takiate, who converted a penalty after Ravinesh Karan Singh was fouled in the box. This resilience exemplified the team’s determination not to disappoint their fans in such a competitive setting.

Singh expressed satisfaction with the team’s efforts, highlighting the unity and adaptability displayed by the remaining players. “The team did well on the field, even though we didn’t secure a win. Their effort and determination were impressive, especially in the face of a strong opponent like Labasa,” stated Singh. He emphasized the importance of maintaining this level of effort as the team prepares for upcoming fixtures and the IDC.

This sentiment is echoed across Suva’s recent matches which have shown a pattern of hard-fought encounters and competitive spirit as illustrated in their significant victories earlier in the season, such as a 7-2 triumph over Nasinu. Such performances have suggested a promising trajectory for Suva, with fans and supporters optimistic for forthcoming matches.

In other league results, Rewa defeated Nadroga with a commanding 5-0 scoreline, while Lautoka narrowly secured a 2-1 victory over Nadi. Tailevu Naitasiri achieved promotion back to the top league with a 2-0 aggregate win over Seaqaqa in the playoffs.

As the season unfolds, Suva FC and their supporters remain hopeful, rallying behind the team’s perseverance and commitment to delivering their best performances in pursuit of greater league success.
