The Suva City Council is set to enhance community engagement by providing clear information on which authorities are responsible for addressing various local complaints. Acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa has announced that this initiative responds to residents’ concerns about uncertainty regarding where to direct their issues when visiting Council offices.
Boseiwaqa indicated that the Council’s communications team would detail the responsibilities of various services, including sewerage, road maintenance, street lighting, animal control, and vehicle-related matters. He emphasized the importance of this information, stating, “I have directed our communication section to come out with the responsibilities and the institutions that are responsible for that. So, before the end of this week, we’ll come out with that in our Facebook.”
Once the information is finalized, it will be disseminated through the Council’s social media channels and shared across community pages to ensure that residents are well-informed about the appropriate agencies to contact for their specific concerns. Moreover, Boseiwaqa reassured the community that even when certain complaints fall outside the Council’s jurisdiction, those issues will still be communicated to the relevant authorities as part of the Council’s commitment to effective city management.
This proactive approach not only aims to streamline the complaint process but also fosters a more connected and informed community, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents in Suva.
