The Nasinu Magistrates Court has placed two men in custody at the Suva Remand Centre following their alleged involvement in a robbery at the Alison Supermarket located in Laucala Beach on Monday. The accused, 51-year-old Sosiveta Raura and 43-year-old Leone Lesumailepanoni, face four counts of robbery each and appeared before Resident Magistrate Charles Ratakele.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the suspects were arrested on the same day as the incident. The charges were presented to them and were fully comprehended, with the first phase of disclosures having been provided. Both men expressed their intention to secure private legal representation.

The case has been forwarded to the High Court in Suva, with the next court session scheduled for next Thursday.

In other developments, a third suspect who was initially apprehended has been questioned and subsequently released by the police. Authorities have reported that the robbery involved threats made towards supermarket employees using cane knives. After the robbery, the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a taxi, which was later found in Tacirua Heights within an hour of the incident.
