Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals is set to collaborate with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) to enhance healthcare access for over 10,500 sugarcane farmers at discounted rates. This initiative aims to facilitate the delivery of quality healthcare services to an essential segment of the Fijian economy.
The partnership came after fruitful discussions between PSH’s founder and CEO, Parvish Kumar, and SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, along with Fund CEO Raj Sharma. Their meeting took place over the weekend, culminating in Bhamji and Sharma visiting PSH’s Nadi hospital, where they were impressed by the hospital’s advanced medical technology and cleanliness.
During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Bhamji emphasized the importance of adapting their services to better meet the needs of farmers. He noted that with over 10,500 active growers, it is crucial to provide competitive offers that reward productive farmers.
“With this new initiative, we aim to enhance the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers,” stated Sharma. “We are proud to have established this partnership with PSH, ensuring that farmers have better access to healthcare.” Additionally, Sharma mentioned that this program would expand to provide similar services for cane farmers in Labasa.
The discussions also included plans for outreach programs focusing on wellness and healthcare, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Kumar expressed his commitment to the farming community, recognizing the historical significance of the sugarcane industry in Fiji’s economy. “I understand the challenges farmers face in accessing healthcare, and this program will provide them with swift and affordable medical services at our hospitals,” he assured.
In summary, this collaboration between PSH and SCGF represents significant progress in ensuring that sugarcane farmers receive the healthcare they deserve. With continuous dialogue and support, this initiative not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also contributes to the broader objective of enhancing the quality of life for the agricultural community in Fiji. The hopeful outlook stems from the commitment of all involved to uplift the farming sector during a crucial period for the economy.
