A forty-five-year-old man who sexually assaulted his stepdaughter on multiple occasions has been sentenced to five years in prison by the High Court in Suva.
The man was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.
The court acquitted him of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.
According to the court, the incidents occurred sometime between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020.
Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull, during the sentencing, ordered that the victim’s name be permanently suppressed.
“The existing interim domestic violence restraining order against you is made permanent for the protection of the victim,” Justice Bull stated.
