SOUTH Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Fiji has officially moved its Nausori Branch to a new location at 14 Ross Street, marking a significant milestone in its 15-year journey of empowering women entrepreneurs across Fiji.
The inauguration of the new office was a momentous occasion, blessed by Reverend Savenaca Nakeke, the Divisional Superintendent of the Nausori Methodist Division. He described the new facility as “a lighthouse that people can run to for help,” emphasizing its role in the community. During his speech, Nakeke encouraged both staff and members to utilize the resources available to them, stating, “Resources are given to be multiplied, not preserved,” and reminding everyone of the importance of growth and influence.
SPBD Fiji Managing Director Lorraine Seeto expressed her enthusiasm about the relocation, highlighting that the new space, located just a short distance from the previous branch, represents not just an address change but also the organization’s commitment to enhancing service for its members. The new location strategically situates the branch in the heart of Nausori’s commercial activity, making it more accessible to the 89 centers supported by a dedicated team of five staff members.
Seeto also acknowledged the generous contributions from partners like Courts, which provided essential appliances for the new office. Since establishing its presence in Fiji in December 2010, SPBD has expanded its operations to ten branches across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, and the maritime islands. Notably, the Nausori Branch, which has been operational since 2024, has quickly outgrown its former location, underscoring a growing demand for microfinance support among women entrepreneurs.
Looking to the future, Seeto announced plans for SPBD Fiji to open its eleventh branch in Korovou by mid-2026, demonstrating the organization’s ambition and continued growth in serving its clientele.
Reverend Nakeke concluded the ceremony with a prayer, wishing that the new office would foster growth, prosperity, and opportunity for mothers, young women, widows, and those facing economic challenges. This event reaffirmed SPBD’s core mission, initiated in 2000 by founder Greg Casagrande, to transform potential into prosperity for Pacific women, offering a hopeful perspective for the future of women entrepreneurship in Fiji.
