The South Seas Snooker Club in Lautoka has concluded its 2025 season on a high note, culminating in a vibrant awards night held on Saturday. Club director Raymond Reddy highlighted that this season was one of the most dynamic in years, marked by a multitude of tournaments and an engaging ladder ranking challenge that kept players actively participating.

The standout event of the season was the fifth edition of the Trustees Cup, which is recognized as Fiji’s premier snooker tournament and boasted a prize pool of approximately $3,000. Reddy noted that the competitiveness this year was intense, with players like Abdul Reddy and himself battling for the top position on the ranking ladder. Throughout the season, Reddy maintained the number one rank for the longest time, amid fierce competition from four other top players.

The active participation of 26 players in ladder matches led to notable improvements in their performance. Reddy remarked that the progress made within the club translated effectively to national competitions, as South Seas players exhibited strong performances. He himself concluded the year ranked fourth in Fiji, having reached finals during the season.

Looking forward to 2026, Reddy expressed optimism for continued growth of the club. Plans are underway to host larger and more prestigious tournaments, with an emphasis on securing better sponsorships to enhance prize money and overall tournament quality. The aim is for the South Seas Snooker Club to solidify its status as Fiji’s leading snooker club while nurturing local talent.

The awards night honored various individual achievements and contributions throughout the season. Nitesh Chand was celebrated for winning the most six-red events and achieving the highest break of the year. Reddy was honored with the Coordinator of the Year and Best Performing Player awards. Other notable recognitions included Navneil Maharaj as Admin of the Year, Aman Mudaliar as the Youngest Player, Kumaran Chetty as the Oldest Player, and Savati Natoga as the Most Disciplined Player.

Additionally, Jan Mohammed was acknowledged for his sponsorship support, and Hafiz Rahman received recognition for his 25 years of dedicated service to the South Seas Snooker Club. This season has set a promising foundation for the future, with hopes of expanding the reach and competitiveness of snooker in Fiji.
