The Solomon Islands government has issued a travel advisory cautioning its citizens against traveling to the Middle East following overnight military actions involving the United States and Israel targeting locations in Iran. In response, Iran has launched rocket attacks against Israel and certain U.S. military installations, causing civilian areas to be affected.
In a public statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Solomon Islands urged its nationals residing in the Gulf Region and Israel to take precautions, remain calm, and stay updated by following the directives of local authorities. The ministry emphasized the importance of monitoring credible news sources for updates regarding the evolving situation.
Additionally, the Solomon Islands embassy in the United Arab Emirates is actively monitoring developments and providing reports back to the government in Honiara. New Zealand’s government has also taken similar steps, issuing advisories to its travelers and citizens living in the Middle East in light of this escalating conflict.
In these challenging times, it’s crucial for citizens in affected regions to prioritize their safety and maintain communication with local authorities as well as their respective embassies.
