Sofitel Fiji Beach Resort and Spa recently celebrated a significant achievement as Eshni Chetty, the resort’s Director of People and Culture, received the Gold award for Human Resources Transformative Leader of the Year in the Large Corporations category. With over 30 years of experience in customer service, Chetty expressed her gratitude for the recognition, highlighting the journey that led her to this pivotal role—starting from her initial career in interior design to becoming a part-time receptionist, which ultimately influenced her professional path.
Chetty emphasized her appreciation for the support she receives from her manager and the significance of the resort’s focus on health and well-being. She noted that the essence of their culture lies in authentic connections, stating, “We connect from the heart,” which has contributed to an impressive employee engagement rate of 95 percent at the hotel.
Having joined Sofitel Fiji Beach Resort and Spa in early 2023, Chetty views the award as a confidence boost that reflects the positive work environment fostered by the resort. The management’s commitment to strong leadership, employee well-being, and high service standards reinforces its dedication to not only enhancing productivity but also enabling staff to thrive.
Chetty also advocated for Fijians, particularly women, to explore careers in human resources, underscoring the importance of human connections in a technology-driven world. The acknowledgment serves as a reminder of the value of personal interaction in professional settings and the positive impact it can have on workplace culture.
