A mother from Sigatoka is calling for urgent answers and accountability following the tragic death of her three-year-old son in a road accident late last month. Mereseini Molly’s son was crossing the road with his grandmother in Sigatoka Town when a vehicle struck him. He was quickly transported to Sigatoka Hospital but sadly was declared dead upon arrival.
In a heartfelt social media post, Ms. Molly expressed her family’s profound grief and frustration over what she perceives as a lack of justice in the aftermath of this tragedy. “Since the day my son lost his life, my family and I have been living with deep pain and grief,” she wrote, highlighting the emotional toll this incident has had on their lives. She illustrated the lack of legal progress, stating, “Up to this day, no charges have been laid, and no clear action has been taken in relation to my son’s death.”
The mother emphasized the sense of loss and emptiness left in her family, lamenting that her son had his entire future ahead of him, which was tragically cut short. She demanded to know the truth behind the incident and questioned why there has been no movement in the legal process regarding her son’s passing.
In response to these concerns, police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the investigation file has been submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice. However, as of now, no charges have been filed against the driver involved in the accident.
This heartbreaking story underscores the urgent need for accountability and thorough investigations in road safety incidents. It reflects the emotional turmoil families face after losing a loved one and the lingering questions that can haunt them in the search for justice. The hope remains that the legal process will bring clarity and accountability for the grieving family.
