Severe Weather Alert: Tropical Cyclone Seru Brings Heavy Rain and Strong Winds to Fiji

Weather Bulletin Update
Brought to you from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30pm on this thrilling Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Hold onto your hats, folks! We have a **Strong Wind Warning** flying in for Yasawa, Lau, Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu, and the neighboring small islands. If your wind chimes are still hanging on, they might just have a wild party today!

And don’t forget your raincoat—**a Heavy Rain Warning** is currently drenching the entire Fiji Group! Let’s just say Mother Nature is throwing a water-themed extravaganza, and everyone’s invited.

**The Situation:** Tropical Cyclone Seru, a Category 2 cyclone, has decided to take a casual stroll to the southeast of Fiji while a friendly trough of low pressure brings clouds and rain—because, why not? We’re in for a delightful dose of north to northwest wind flow too!

**Forecast Until Midnight:** Expect cloudy periods and some showers crashing the party over the Western and Northern Divisions, including Kadavu and Southern Lau Group. Isolated heavy falls are expected, especially if you find yourself outdoors this afternoon or evening—nature has its own way of sending invitations!

As we look to tomorrow, expect the showers to get a little more enthusiastic and transform into frequent rain.

Elsewhere will enjoy cloudy periods with some afternoon or evening shower drama, heavy falls, and occasional thunderstorms—it’s basically a soap opera out there. And don’t worry; rain will be making regular guest appearances starting tomorrow.

**Outlook for Friday:** Occasional rain is on the schedule, with some heavy moments and thunderstorms adding a bit of flair across most locations.

**For Specific Areas:**

– **Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Expect some cloudiness with afternoon or evening showers. Isolated heavy falls might just collect an audience, and thunderstorms are poised for a cameo.

– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Fairly cloudy periods will greet you with showers likely turning into a flood and becoming frequent from tomorrow’s encore.

– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** You guessed it—cloudy periods and showers! Frequent rain is on the horizon, possibly taking over the weekend party.

– **Tavua/Rakiraki:** Cloudy conditions paired with afternoon or evening showers (heavy impacts possible). The rains will make themselves known by late tomorrow.

– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** Get ready for a breezy day with fresh to strong northerly winds reaching up to 55km/hr, gusting up to 80km/hr! A cloudy, showery affair is too good to miss.

– **Labasa / Savusavu:** Surprise, surprise—more clouds and showers are expected to become increasingly frequent after a quiet day!

– **Lau/Lomaiviti:** Strong northerly winds, along with some delightful cloudiness and afternoon showers, are strutting their stuff. Heavy falls and thunderstorms will also make an appearance, so don’t forget your umbrella!

– **Kadavu:** You’ll find yourself in cloud cover with some showers, making it a great time to stay indoors unless you’re keen to dance in the rain!

– **Rotuma:** A steady northerly wind keeps the scene moist with some showers—don’t let the clouds steal your sunshine!

So there you have it, folks! It’s a weather rollercoaster out there—keeping the raincoats handy and the umbrellas at the ready! Enjoy the show!
