Weather Update

Hold onto your hats, folks, because we’ve got a strong wind warning that’s blowing up a storm—literally! Areas in the Northern Division, northeastern Viti Levu (from Tailevu North to Ra-Rakiraki and all the way to Tavua), Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and those charming smaller islands are feeling the gusts. Now’s not the time to let that stylish fedora fly too high!

And if you thought that was it, think again! A heavy rain alert is also on the menu for the Northern Division, Yasawa, Lau, Lomaiviti Groups, Kadavu, nearby small islands, and the eastern half of Viti Levu (including those unfortunate folks in Sigatoka, Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, and Tailevu North). It seems even the rainclouds are partying too hard tonight!

Currently, a southeast wind is blowing everywhere, while a tropical depression (TD09F) to our northeast seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed and will be roaming our waters by late Sunday. Buckle up for some strong winds and potentially gale-force gusts that could make your umbrella do a backflip!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
If you’re in the Northern Division and surrounding areas, expect moderate to fresh southeasterly winds. But beware, soon they will ramp up to strong southeasterly and southwesterly gales that could clock up to 50km/h and gusts as wild as 65km/h! Rough seas will definitely be in attendance, so this might not be an ideal time for a sunset paddle!

Let’s break down what’s coming:

– Over Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu-Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and nearby islands: get ready for some cloud cover and the chance of occasional showers with heavier bursts trying to steal the show. Thunderstorms could crash the party too!

– If you’re in areas like Nadi and Lautoka, expect some fine weather, except for those pesky evening showers and surprise thunderstorms. What’s a little rain without drama, right?

– As for those in Tavua and Rakiraki, you’ll have some moderate winds blowing in your direction, but watch out for those sneaky afternoon showers and thunderstorms that show up like that unexpected guest at a dinner party.

Looking forward to Monday: Heavy winds will take over, and if you thought things were wild today, they might just kick it up a notch! So, get ready for strong southerly to northwesterly winds shifting into the limelight, with gusts that could leave you breathless—literally!

So, brace yourself for rainy days ahead, grab your favorite rain boots, and let’s hope you don’t lose that umbrella to the wind! Stay safe and dry out there!
