The Seaqaqa Business Center is poised to evolve into a significant economic hub in Macuata Province, with Labasa as its potential counterpart. Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, recently emphasized the area’s burgeoning business landscape, noting a series of investments that could enhance its growth trajectory.

One of the key initiatives highlighted is the Na Vualiku Tourism Project, which aims to unlock broader investment possibilities by making additional land available for development. Ratu Wiliame stressed the importance of banking institutions establishing rural branches to facilitate business operations and urged for the decentralization of government services to further support the Seaqaqa community.

Ratu Wiliame drew attention to local attractions, stating, “From the Nukubati Island Resort off the shores to our Deep River Hotel in Dreketi, these are glimpses of what is possible when rural areas are connected and invested in.” This sentiment was echoed by Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, who pointed out that Seaqaqa has substantial potential not just for farming but for diverse economic opportunities that could uplift the community.

In a related note, community enthusiasm is evident with the ongoing construction of a new market and bus stand in Seaqaqa. This facility, designed to accommodate 50 vendors, is a part of a $1.7 million investment aimed at improving traders’ conditions and enhancing local economic activity. Similar to the tourism initiatives, this market project reflects the region’s commitment to strengthening local economies and fostering community spirit.

As construction continues on these important projects, there is a palpable sense of optimism within the community. The development efforts signal a forward-thinking approach that prioritizes local needs and emphasizes collaborative growth, offering reasons for residents and stakeholders to remain hopeful about a bright economic future in Seaqaqa.
