Following a comprehensive assessment of the impact of Tropical Cyclone Rae, schools in the Lau Group are preparing to reopen today, February 27, 2025. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro confirmed the decision after consultations with various divisions and the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), which provided positive recommendations for resuming classes.
The cyclone significantly affected local infrastructure, causing damage to roads, bridges, and crossings that hindered access to schools. However, with conditions now stable, officials believe reopening schools is in the best interest of both students and the surrounding communities.
