Fiji Seismology recorded a series of 47 earthquakes in the Savusavu Bay region, starting from 1:00 PM today. These quakes, which varied in magnitude from 1.0 to 4.0, primarily occurred on the Western side of the bay, near Natuvu Village. Although most of these seismic events are categorized as minor to light, their shallow depth and proximity to populated areas mean they can be distinctly felt by local residents.

Fiji Seismology has clarified that the occurrence of these tremors does not suggest an imminent major earthquake. They indicate that swarms of smaller earthquakes can happen, as observed in this instance. The organization emphasizes the importance of preparedness, especially in a region like Fiji, known for its high seismic activity.

It’s reassuring to note that despite the frequency of these quakes, there’s currently no cause for alarm. Communities are encouraged to stay informed and ready, reinforcing the spirit of resilience that characterizes the region. By remaining vigilant and prepared, residents can feel more secure in their day-to-day lives.
