Samoa Women achieved a notable victory against Fiji Women, winning by 41 runs in their opening match at the Pacific-France T20i Women’s Cricket Championship held in New Caledonia.
Setting a formidable target, Samoa scored 127 runs while losing only 2 wickets in their 20 overs. Taalili Losefo was the star of the show, impressively scoring 60 runs off 48 balls and hitting six fours. Ailaoa Felicia Aoina also contributed significantly with a solid 21 runs during a key partnership of 51 runs for the third wicket.
In response, the Fiji Women’s team struggled to keep pace with the required run rate, managing only 86 runs for the loss of 6 wickets over their allotted overs. Melai Biu was the top scorer for Fiji with 24 runs, while Sulia Vuni added 12 runs.
Fiji will look to bounce back as they prepare to face Vanuatu tomorrow at 1:30 PM, aiming for a turnaround following their opening game setback.
