Samisoni Mara captured the attention during the closing ceremony of the Ba Golf Club’s 2024 season, held at the FSC Golf Club on Sunday evening. The Kadavu native, who lives in close proximity to the golf course, has utilized his location to hone his golfing abilities, leading to a series of impressive achievements this season.

Mara claimed the monthly medal titles for July and September, triumphed in the B Grade category for the season, and earned a silver medal in the prestigious Gold Rush competition. In addition, he was recognized for his consistency by winning the nearest to the pin award.

Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Mara noted, “I want to thank God for this award. Living beside the golf course makes it easier for me to practice, which is a significant advantage. Next year, I will come out stronger and better prepared.”

The 2024 season closing ceremony, sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased outstanding performances from participants. The Magic Breakers team, comprised of Anaya Saanvi, Prakrit Naidu, Divnesh Goundar, and Asish Chand, emerged as champions with an impressive score of 53. The Blues team, featuring Joeli Dakunimata, Ashwin Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, and Sunil Sharma, finished in second place with a score of 54, while the Amin Insurance team, including Indra Warjan, Smita Warjan, Jyoti Lal, and Has Raj Parmar, secured third with 55.

In individual club championships, Asish Chand was crowned A Grade champion, with Ashwin Sharma taking the runner-up position. Samisoni Mara stood out in the B Grade category, finishing ahead of Brendan Daniel, while Prakrit Naidu won the C Grade. Rohit Chandra claimed the gold medal in the Gold Rush competition, with Mara taking home the silver and Raven Kumar earning bronze. Professional golfer Lotawa Delana was honored with the longest drive award.

Mara’s achievements throughout the year were highlighted by his victories in the monthly medal competitions, alongside other notable monthly winners: Raven Kumar (June), Damon Chen (August), and Rohit Chandra (October).
