Samisoni Mara was the star of the Ba Golf Club’s 2024 season closing ceremony held at the FSC Golf Club recently. Hailing from Kadavu and residing in the FSC compound adjacent to the golf course, Mara utilized his proximity to hone his golfing skills, leading to a successful season.
Mara clinched the monthly medal titles in both July and September, emerged victorious in the B Grade category for the season, and secured a silver medal in the Gold Rush competition. He was also recognized for his accuracy with the nearest-to-the-pin award.
In expressing his appreciation, Mara highlighted the advantages of living near the golf course, attributing part of his success to the ease of practicing regularly. He stated, “I want to thank God for this award, and living beside the golf course makes practicing easy for me. Next year I will come out stronger and better prepared.”
The event, supported by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased exceptional performances across various categories. The Magic Breakers team triumphed with a score of 53, closely followed by the Blues team at 54, and the Amin Insurance team finishing third with 55.
In individual accolades, Asish Chand won the A Grade championship, while Samisoni Mara claimed the top spot in the B Grade, finishing ahead of Brendan Daniel. The C Grade title was taken by Prakrit Naidu. Rohit Chandra won the gold medal in the Gold Rush competition, with Mara taking silver and Raven Kumar finishing with bronze. Additionally, professional golfer Lotawa Delana was awarded for the longest drive.
Mara’s impressive year included his victories in the monthly medal competitions, with notable winners in other months such as Raven Kumar, Damon Chen, and Rohit Chandra.
