Samisoni Mara captivated audiences at the Ba Golf Club’s 2024 season closing ceremony, which took place at the FSC Golf Club on Sunday night. The Kadavu native, who lives in proximity to the golf course at Line 25 in the FSC compound, has leveraged his advantageous location to hone his golfing skills, resulting in a successful season.
Mara’s accolades include winning the monthly medal titles for both July and September, claiming the B Grade category championship for the season, and securing the silver medal in the prestigious Gold Rush competition. Additionally, he was recognized for his skill in a ‘nearest to the pin’ contest.
In reflecting on his achievements, Mara expressed gratitude, stating, “I want to thank God for this award. For me, it’s easy living beside the golf course, and practicing is an advantage.” He further shared his ambitions for the upcoming year, saying, “Next year, I will come out stronger and better prepared.”
The closing ceremony, sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased outstanding performances from various competitors. The Magic Breakers team was crowned champions with an impressive score of 53. The team included Anaya Saanvi, Prakrit Naidu, Divnesh Goundar, and Asish Chand. Just one point behind, the Blues team, featuring Joeli Dakunimata, Ashwin Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, and Sunil Sharma, finished second with a score of 54, while the Amin Insurance team, composed of Indra Warjan, Smita Warjan, Jyoti Lal, and Has Raj Parmar, secured third place with 55.
In individual championships, Asish Chand triumphed in the A Grade category, with Ashwin Sharma as the runner-up, while Samisoni Mara excelled in the B Grade, finishing ahead of Brendan Daniel. Prakrit Naidu took the victory in the C Grade category. In the Gold Rush competition, Rohit Chandra earned the gold medal, with Samisoni Mara taking the silver and Raven Kumar the bronze.
Mara’s outstanding season was underscored by his wins in monthly medal competitions, alongside fellow winners such as Raven Kumar in June, Damon Chen in August, and Rohit Chandra in October. Additionally, professional golfer Lotawa Delana was honored with the longest drive award.
Overall, this season concludes on a high note for Mara and the Ba Golf Club, setting an inspiring tone for the forthcoming year, where players aim to elevate their game and achieve even greater heights.
