The Salad Bowl Netball Club has been handed a timely boost as it prepares for its first-ever overseas tour in August 2026, with Australian-based Maali Mechanical Services committing AUD $2,000 to the team’s preparations. Under the terms of the backing, the club will carry the Maali Mechanical Services name for the duration of the international trip.

Longest-serving club president Judy Kumar said the sponsorship — provided by Maali Mechanical Services’ owners, Mr and Mrs Ugle — includes not only the cash injection but the donation of essential sports gear, ensuring players will be properly equipped when they travel. “This support means more than words can express. It motivates our players to strive for excellence and reminds us that our efforts are recognised beyond our shores,” Kumar said, calling the timing of the contribution “pivotal” to the side’s build-up.

Kumar framed the tour as more than a sporting assignment, saying it will offer participants international exposure, opportunities for personal development and cultural exchange, and a chance to build unity within the squad. “This is not just about netball. It is about personal development, cultural exchange and building unity within the team. We are proud to carry the Maali Mechanical Services name and represent with discipline and pride,” she added.

Club officials say the sponsorship has already lifted morale among players and volunteers and will be directed toward final training camps, uniforms and equipment for the trip. With preparations now under way, the team hopes the Maali Mechanical Services branding will help raise the profile of the club as it steps onto the international stage for the first time.

The Salad Bowl announcement follows a broader pattern of modest but meaningful community sponsorships across the country this year, where a number of $2,000 contributions have supported local schools and sporting events. Such grassroots support has been credited by organisers as essential to sustaining community programmes and giving young athletes pathways to higher-level competition.

Kumar also paid tribute to families, supporters and the wider community for their ongoing encouragement, saying their backing has been vital to the club’s journey. With the August 2026 trip now firmly on the calendar, Salad Bowl players and officials say they are determined to make the most of the opportunity and to return having grown both on and off the court.
