The TEMC Birdland Brothers under-21 team kicked off their tournament with an impressive 29-0 win against Duiyasana in their first Pool B match. They maintained their strong performance, concluding the day with a solid 10-0 triumph over Survivor Burotu.
Player Ratu Lacavukivuki Faramu Bainivalu stated that their goals extend beyond just winning matches. “We’re here to help these young players escape the grips of drug addiction. We aim to engage the youth in positive activities—steering clear of drugs and leading them toward a brighter future for Kadavu,” he remarked.
He emphasized that their participation in the tournament is about more than just scoring points. It aims to provide an alternative solution to the challenges many young people in their community encounter. Engaging in sports offers structure, discipline, and a sense of purpose.
“Rugby teaches us teamwork and respect, values we can carry into our everyday lives,” added Bainivalu.
The team is focused on securing the top position in Pool B. “We have one more pool match, and we’re determined to win it,” Bainivalu expressed confidently. Regardless of the match outcomes, their true achievement lies in the positive impact they are making in their home community.
