The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Fiji has partnered with the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) and the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) with the goal of decreasing road accidents and fatalities throughout the nation.
LTA Chief Executive Irimaia Rokosawa emphasized that this collaboration aims to enhance road safety awareness and adherence to traffic laws among Fijian road users by utilizing the significant influence of rugby players and the expansive reach of the FRU.
“This innovative partnership highlights the essential role that sports, especially rugby, play in shaping attitudes and behaviors in Fiji,” Rokosawa remarked. He added that rugby players, being highly esteemed and respected across the country, serve as effective advocates for responsible road use.
For the next four years, LTA, ACCF, and FRU will work together to harness the power of sports to cultivate a culture of road safety awareness and responsibility within communities. Fiji Rugby Union’s General Manager for Commercial, Broadcast & Marketing, Avnil Pratap, affirmed the FRU’s dedication to the well-being of Fijians both on and off the rugby field. “Rugby players are role models in our communities, and their voices carry substantial weight,” he said.
