An exciting day of rugby action is set for this Saturday as the national quarter-finals of the Vodafone Deans competition will take place simultaneously at Churchill Park in Lautoka and Prince Charles Park in Nadi. The under-18 matches will specifically be held at Churchill Park, which is designated as the primary venue for this important event.
Biu Colati, the vice president for development of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union, explained the logistics for the day. “Churchill Park will serve as our ground number one, with additional facilities designated for warm-up purposes for the participating schools,” he noted. The arrangement includes allocating warm-up areas outside both Churchill Park and Prince Charles Park, as well as securing Natabua High School as an additional warm-up venue if needed.
Each venue will feature quarter-final matches for different grades, ensuring that the atmosphere remains vibrant and competitive across the matches. Teams will compete for a place in the semi-finals, with Colati assuring that all necessary preparations are in place to deliver an engaging rugby experience for both participants and spectators.
Reflecting on logistical arrangements, it’s a promising sign of resilience and flexibility as the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union adapts to meet the needs of the competition despite earlier challenges regarding venue availability. Their commitment to fostering young rugby talent across the country remains strong.
Fans and families can look forward to a day filled with skill and sportsmanship as the top school teams battle it out for glory in this year’s tournament. The enthusiasm for youth rugby continues to grow, promising a bright future for the sport in Fiji.
