Two-time Olympian and former Fiji 7s player Jerry Tuwai has extended his condolences to his former teammate, Osea Kolinisau, after the death of Osea’s father, Reverend Tuikoro Kolinisau, on February 14. The funeral service for Reverend Kolinisau took place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on February 27, where friends, family, and the rugby community gathered to honor the influential figure.
Reverend Kolinisau was well-regarded not only for founding the Kingdom Ambassador International Fellowship but also for his significant impact on the lives of many within the Fijian rugby community, including Tuwai himself. In an interview with The Fiji Times, Tuwai reminisced about the guidance he received from Osea when he joined the national 7s team, recalling a pivotal moment during his debut in 2014 where Osea offered encouraging words.
Describing Osea’s father as a father figure, Tuwai emphasized the support Reverend Kolinisau provided to players, highlighting his role in shaping Osea into a respected leader. Tuwai expressed his admiration for Osea, stating, “Osea is a fighter. My condolences to him and his family. We all respect and love him, and we pray for strength during this difficult time.”
