Inspirational captain Roy Krishna, who unfortunately will be absent for the Fiji men’s football team’s crucial semifinal clash against New Zealand in the OFC World Cup Qualifier, is still motivating his teammates from afar. Despite his serious ACL injury, sustained while playing for Odisha FC in the Indian Super League, Krishna held a virtual devotion session with his fellow players and imparted words of encouragement.

During the session, he urged the Bula Boys to believe in themselves and play with pride as they represent Fiji and their families. Krishna emphasized that he and many Fijians worldwide will be rooting for them as they take the field at the Sky Stadium in Wellington at 6 PM (Fiji Time).

The striker has been integral to Fiji’s success, scoring vital goals throughout the qualifying stages, but his injury has compelled him to undergo surgery and will keep him sidelined for at least another month. Yet, he remains hopeful about his recovery and has expressed unwavering faith in his teammates, encouraging them to step up in his absence for this significant match.

Similar to the ongoing challenges faced by the team, this injury has activated a sense of determination within the squad. Players such as Sairusi Nalaubu and Merrill Nand will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills on a larger stage as they aim to fill the void left by their captain. The spirit of resilience and unity among the players is palpable, reinforcing the idea that while Krishna’s absence is a setback, it also serves as an impetus for the team to demonstrate their capabilities.

As fans rally behind the Bula Boys, there is a collective expectation that, despite the immediate challenges, this journey can inspire a bright future for Fijian football. The commitment and support from teammates and fans alike will be crucial as they move forward, proving that even in adversity, there lies an opportunity for growth and success.
