Fiji’s standout footballer Roy Krishna has officially parted ways with Odisha FC in the Indian Super League following a difficult stretch. The 37-year-old striker’s 2024-25 season was severely impacted by a Grade 3 ACL injury he suffered in December 2024. This unfortunate event occurred shortly after he renewed his contract with the club in June 2024.

Krishna’s departure marks the end of a remarkable chapter in the ISL, where he made his debut in 2019, making significant contributions to the league over the years. Even though this season was hampered by injury, he managed to finish as one of the joint top goal scorers, a testament to his talent and perseverance.

Throughout his time in the ISL, the former All Saints Secondary School student has achieved considerable success, including two joint top goal scorer titles and being awarded the prestigious Golden Ball in the 2020/21 season. His ability has not only made him a key player but also a role model for young footballers in Fiji and beyond.

In light of Krishna’s injury, support for him remains strong. The Fiji Football Association’s CEO expressed optimism about his recovery, suggesting that with dedicated rehabilitation, he might return to the field by April of the following year. The hope is that Krishna’s incredible work ethic and determination will see him make a successful comeback, inspiring others along the way.

This situation also serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of sports, where challenges often present opportunities for resilience and growth, both for the individual athlete and the teams that support them. Fans and teammates alike are rallying around Krishna, uniting in their goal to see him back on the pitch soon.
