Bula FC’s head coach is encouraging young local talents to seize the invaluable opportunity of learning from Fiji’s football star, Roy Krishna, in the upcoming months. The coach emphasizes that players like 16-year-old Maikah Dau and 17-year-old Melvin Prakash are especially fortunate to train alongside one of the region’s top footballers.
He hopes that the youngsters, along with the rest of the squad, will fully absorb Krishna’s insights during each training session and implement these lessons in the forthcoming OFC Pro League season. “The main question is how much are they willing to listen and to learn from him. When we’re young, sometimes we overlook many aspects and miss out on valuable experiences. We aim to help them maximize what they can learn from him and from other experienced players,” the coach remarked.
Krishna has made history as the first Fijian to compete in the A-League, which is the premier level of football in Australia and New Zealand. He carved out a reputation as a prolific goal scorer, claiming multiple Golden Boot awards and playing pivotal roles in domestic victories and continental competitions with teams like Wellington Phoenix, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Odisha FC.
On the international stage, Krishna captained the Fijian national team and played crucial roles in World Cup and Olympic qualifiers by scoring essential goals. His impressive consistency, enduring presence, and leadership abilities have earned him numerous accolades, establishing him as a trailblazer who has significantly enhanced Fiji’s stature in the global football arena.
The club’s focus on fostering young talent under the guidance of a footballing icon like Krishna not only serves as an inspiration but also provides a pathway for the next generation of players aspiring to make their mark in the sport.
