Fiji Police Cyber Task Force has recently charged a 22-year-old man with fraud following an incident that occurred on March 22, 2024. The accused allegedly deceived a victim into paying $320 for a tent and a table, which he never delivered. The victim took action by filing a complaint at the Nakasi Police Station after realizing that the items were not forthcoming.
The young man is scheduled to appear before the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, facing serious charges that include Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and Possession of Property Suspected to Be Proceeds of Crime.
In a related matter, a 50-year-old man is also set to face charges for a similar offense. This individual reportedly collected a deposit of $190 for a rental car that he advertised on Facebook, but failed to respond to the victim’s attempts to reach him, prompting a complaint to the Lautoka Police Station.
