Semesa Kalikalisui of Cicia High School showcased his athleticism at the final Maritime Zone meet, achieving an impressive javelin throw of 53.33 meters. This remarkable throw, which approaches the 59.69-meter record held by Jone Vosabalavu from Queen Victoria School, marks a personal best for the 18-year-old athlete and establishes him as a formidable contender for the upcoming Fiji Finals.

Kalikalisui’s performance is particularly significant as this is his first time competing at the Maritime Zone. With aspirations of securing gold at the Fiji Finals, which will be held from Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, Kalikalisui is eager to bring home a medal for his school and community. He credits his coach, Semiti Tavaki, for enhancing his technique and building the confidence necessary to excel.

The Fiji Finals promise to be an exciting event, coinciding with the growing trend of young athletes setting new records across various competitions in Fiji. Similar to the achievements of other talented Fijian athletes, such as Salanieta Cereivalu and Jale Raikatalau, Kalikalisui’s journey exemplifies the spirit of determination and resilience characterized in the nation’s youth sports scene.

As the Fiji Finals approach, excitement continues to build, reflecting a collective hope for future successes among young athletes like Kalikalisui. The support of the community and the dedication shown by these emerging stars indicates a bright future for athletics in Fiji, inspiring peers and future generations to pursue their aspirations with the same fervor.
