Salote Cikobia, a promising young talent from Vanuabalavu Lau, is eagerly anticipating her debut in the Fijian national team at the upcoming Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship. Recently selected for the Fijiana 7s development team, Cikobia expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, particularly after showcasing her abilities during the Mataso 7s tournament.

“I didn’t expect to get a call-up, but I am humbled and very thankful for this opportunity,” Cikobia shared. Her selection followed a commendable performance at the Mataso 7s, where she caught the attention of the selectors.

The young athlete is excited about the chance to play alongside renowned Fijiana 7s players, including Sesenieli Donu, emphasizing the invaluable experience she aims to gain from her seasoned teammates. “It’s great to play alongside a player like her. I know I, along with the other new girls, will gain a lot from this experience,” she noted.

Cikobia recognizes that her journey in rugby may come with challenges, but she is committed to giving her best in the tournament while continuing to learn and grow as a player.
