Darsh Prakash, an 18-year-old student from Jai Narayan College, has been named the dux for 2024, a recognition he attributes to his steadfast learning habits and the support he received from educators and classmates.
In reflecting on his academic journey, which began in Year Nine in 2020 amidst high expectations from his parents and teachers, Darsh remarked, “Having the right attitude towards learning and being surrounded by the best teachers were huge contributors to my success.” While he didn’t set winning the dux award as a specific goal, it was always a possibility he entertained.
Darsh, focusing on pure science, encountered rigorous subjects and stiff competition. He emphasized the importance of consistency, stating, “The subjects were challenging, but I focused on my studies and was fortunate to have supportive teachers always willing to assist.”
He also tackled the issue of a shortened academic year, adjusting his schedule to remain on course. “I managed my time better to overcome this challenge,” he explained. His feelings of gratitude toward his teachers and friends were apparent as he celebrated his achievement, saying, “Taking the top prize home feels great, and I’m thankful for everyone who helped me get here.”
Inesh Prakash, Darsh’s father, expressed his surprise and joy at his son’s accomplishment, saying he hadn’t expected the accolade. He added, “I’m incredibly grateful to the school for nurturing his abilities and guiding him to success.”
Looking ahead, Darsh plans to pursue a career in medicine, motivated by the same dedication and gratitude that has characterized his impressive academic journey.
This story serves as an inspiring example of how support systems, dedication, and resilience can lead to outstanding accomplishments, particularly for young individuals navigating challenging educational paths. Darsh’s success not only celebrates his personal achievements but also highlights the significance of community support in shaping future leaders.
