Alfreda Fisher from Taveuni has been named the 2025 Rooster Chicken Women’s Player of the Year, capping off her remarkable rookie season at just 20 years old. The award was presented to her during the 2025 Drua Presentation Night at the Sofitel Resort and Spa in Nadi.
Expressing her gratitude, Fisher acknowledged the support from her coaching staff, teammates, and family, emphasizing that her achievement results from their collective efforts. “I have to thank God firstly for giving me this talent and my coaches for supporting me this season,” she shared. Coincidentally, Fisher dedicated her award to her father, celebrating his birthday on the same day.
Her club praised her for her outstanding performances and leadership, both on and off the field. As a recognition of her contributions, she has also been entrusted with the captaincy of the Vodafone Fijiana team, marking her as a key figure in Fijian women’s rugby.
Fisher’s rise in the sport adds to her impressive journey, having made history as the first female from her home village of Qamea, Cakaudrove, to represent the national team.
