In anticipation of the Extra Battle of the Giants 2025 semi-final matchup against the defending champions Lautoka, Rewa football club is focused and ready for the challenge. The Delta Tigers, supported by Lincoln Refrigeration, earned their place in the semi-finals by finishing first in Group B, thanks to a string of solid performances that included a 2-0 victory over Navua, a 3-0 triumph against Nadi, and a crucial win against Suva.
Assistant coach Priyant Mannu has acknowledged the challenge posed by Lautoka, emphasizing their strength, experience, and well-prepared training staff. Mannu stated, “Lautoka is a very good side… they will come up with a plan to beat us.” He recognizes the pressure on Rewa, who has not claimed a tournament title in the past four to five years, and highlighted that the fans have high expectations.
Understanding the knockout nature of the semi-final, Mannu remarked on the need for the Delta Tigers to deliver their best performance, stating, “As you know, the semi-final is a knockout game. Any team we face will come out prepared, so we’ll have to be on our top performance.” This sentiment echoes Rewa’s consistent focus on improving their game, which has been a hallmark of their recent matches.
The semi-final is scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM at Subrail Park in Labasa. For fans and supporters alike, the impending clash holds a sense of excitement and hope as the community rallies behind Rewa, eager to see them succeed and possibly break their title drought.
Such matches not only elevate the standard of football in Fiji but exemplify the spirit of community and support that is central to the sport, amplifying the anticipation for what could be a transformative moment in Rewa’s journey this season.
