Rewa FC mounted a second-half comeback to beat Labasa 2-1 in round three of the 2026 Extra Premier League at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday, overturning a half-time deficit to secure the vital three points. The Delta Tigers trailed 1-0 at the break but regrouped, adopting a more defensive approach after the interval that ultimately proved decisive.
Head coach Priyant Manu said the side’s focus and determination were key to the turnaround, praising the players’ response at half-time. “It was a tough match for us, down on the first half we had to get things right and with the players focus and determination we got this win,” Manu said, singling out defensive organisation as the feature of the second period. He added that his instructions to “give their all on the field” were aimed at protecting the result once Rewa had taken the lead.
The match marked an important early-season response for Rewa in the Extra Premier League, where consistency in the opening rounds can shape the race for the top places. Manu said the three points were much needed, but stressed the win would not see the team become complacent. “The team came on second half with a defensive plan, talking to the boys to give their all on the field to get our three points on the table,” he said.
Looking ahead, Manu stressed the coaching staff would return to work to address weaknesses exposed in the first half as Rewa prepare for their next fixture against Nadroga in two weeks’ time. “We going to go back, work on our mistakes, we have a lot of work to do, and come next game against Nadroga, we will be fit and ready,” he said, signalling a focus on correction and fitness in the coming fortnight.
Support from fans and families at Ratu Cakobau Park was also highlighted by Manu as a motivating factor for the players. He expressed gratitude for their presence, saying the backing had a positive impact on the squad’s performance in a tight contest.
The victory gives Rewa momentum as the league begins to settle into its mid-season rhythm. With the Nadroga fixture next on their calendar, Manu’s message is clear: celebrate the win, but use it as a platform for improvement as the Extra Premier League campaign unfolds.
