The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team faces a challenging journey in the upcoming 2025 OFC Men’s Championship League. As representatives of Fiji, they find themselves in Group A, competing against formidable teams from New Zealand, Tahiti, and New Caledonia.
In contrast, Group B is made up of teams from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and the winner of the qualifying tournament, which will be held in the Cook Islands from February 8-14. The qualifying tournament will feature three clubs: Royal Puma FC of American Samoa, Vaipuna SC from Samoa, and Tupapa Maraerenga FC of the Cook Islands. The victor will earn the final spot in Group B.
The OFC Men’s Championship League is recognized as Oceania’s premier club competition, gathering champions from across the region. This year’s tournament is scheduled to take place in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from March 30 to April 12. Originally set to be hosted in Fiji, this will be an opportunity for Rewa to shine on a larger stage, especially since no Fijian team has ever won this prestigious tournament, despite teams like Ba, Suva, Nadi, and Lautoka reaching the finals in the past.
The draw represents not just a challenge but also a chance for Rewa to claim victory and make history for Fijian football. With determination and teamwork, they have the potential to rise to the occasion and inspire future generations of athletes in the region.
