The Education Ministry is taking significant steps to address the ongoing challenges faced by students using the student bus card system. In collaboration with Vodafone Fiji, the Ministry aims to streamline transport processes and improve reliability for students, who have recently experienced issues such as lengthy delays in receiving replacement cards, misuse of these cards, and restricted travel hours.
During a productive meeting this week, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro spoke with Vodafone Fiji CEO Elenoa Biukoto about these pressing issues. Radrodro emphasized the importance of ensuring students maintain access to transportation during the transition to new cards, which is crucial for their daily commuting needs.
The discussions also focused on enhancing the procedures for replacing lost cards and the possibility of extending travel hours to better accommodate students’ schedules. Biukoto and her team are expected to integrate Vodafone’s systems with those of the Education Ministry, fostering an improved and more efficient service delivery for students and their families.
This initiative aligns with recent commitments made by Vodafone, as they are also addressing public concerns related to the broader e-ticketing cards system for transportation in Fiji. Recent complaints about long waiting times and inefficiencies have led to collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing customer service and ensuring a more user-friendly experience overall.
With thoughtful adjustments and collective cooperation between the government and Vodafone, there is hope for a more accessible and reliable public transport system in Fiji, benefiting students and the community at large. These changes could pave the way for improved commuting experiences, demonstrating a commitment to support the educational needs of Fiji’s youth.
