The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) has announced the lifting of movement restrictions in the Western Division. This significant update indicates a return to normalcy for the communities affected by recent challenges.
Currently, there are eight active evacuation centers, hosting 79 households with a total of 350 evacuees. To support these individuals, the delivery of essential rations took place today. The Ministry of Health is actively visiting all evacuation centers to offer necessary medical assistance.
Assistance provided to those in evacuation centers includes:
– 100 bottles of water and four black pack hygiene kits donated by Freezco and the Red Cross to four centers in Nadi.
– The Hare Rama Hare Krishna team has been distributing food to evacuees at the Korovuto center.
– Empower Pacific is offering psychosocial support at the evacuation centers in Nadi, contributing to the well-being of the affected individuals.
This response from local organizations showcases the strong community support available during difficult times, highlighting the resilience and compassion of the Fijian people. As the situation improves, the collective efforts of the community and various organizations pave the way for recovery and healing.
In summary, the lifting of movement restrictions marks a hopeful step forward for the Western Division of Fiji as community support continues to strengthen the recovery process for the affected families.
