Nanise Rabonu, the head girl of Vunimono High School, received the esteemed Principal’s Award during the school’s annual prizegiving ceremony held at the Nausori Hall yesterday. At just 18 years old, her path to this significant honor was fraught with challenges; however, her remarkable leadership and determination distinguished her among her peers.

“I was not expecting to receive the Principal’s Award, but I am incredibly thankful,” Nanise expressed. She emphasized that true leadership involves not just standing out but also understanding the varied backgrounds of the students and adhering to the school’s core values.

Nanise credited her family, especially her older brother—previously awarded the same accolade in 2022—for their continuous guidance. “He instilled in me the values of respect and integrity essential for effective leadership,” she remarked.

Her journey was not without sacrifices; she faced difficult choices that sometimes impacted her friendships. “Some decisions were hard and came at a price, but I have no regrets. I am grateful to God and my parents for their constant support during those tough times,” she noted.

Driven by a passion for uplifting others, Nanise is dedicated to empowering her peers, especially young girls. “We face challenging times, and too often, girls are not recognized for their potential. I am thankful to be able to inspire and remind others of their worth,” she added.

Looking to the future, Nanise has set her sights on becoming a flight attendant, eager to experience new cultures and places around the world. Her triumph not only solidifies her legacy at Vunimono High School but also inspires students throughout the school community.

This achievement illustrates the power of resilience and commitment, showcasing that dedication can lead to extraordinary outcomes. The journey of Nanise Rabonu serves as a reminder to all students that their efforts, empathy, and vision can make a significant impact in their communities and beyond.
