The permanent secretary in the Prime Minister’s office, Pita Wise, has resigned, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka indicating that his resignation is associated with a complaint. In a statement earlier, Public Service Commission chair Luke Rokovada stated that Wise stepped down for personal reasons.

When approached by the media, Rabuka confirmed he had received a complaint, which he referred to the Public Service Commission, leading to Wise’s resignation. Rokovada noted that the commission met on Wednesday to address the issue, during which Wise chose to resign.

“I sent him (Mr. Rabuka) an email yesterday notifying him,” Rokovada explained. “Today, I provided him with the hard copy of the resignation letter and the accompanying press release.”

Pita Wise had served as the permanent secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister since January 2023 and has over 30 years of experience in the civil service, having held similar positions in previous administrations.
