Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera, Italy, has successfully completed the float-out of a remarkable new luxury cruise ship for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Named Seven Seas Prestige, this vessel marks the beginning of a new class of ultra-luxury ships for the brand and underscores a continued collaboration with the shipyard.
Upon completion, the ship will weigh in at 76,550 gross tons and measure 257 meters (843 feet) in length. Notably, while the Seven Seas Prestige will be 40 percent larger than previous vessels in its fleet, it will accommodate only 10 percent more passengers, ensuring an intimate experience for its guests. The ship’s total capacity will be 822 passengers complemented by 630 crew members, granting it one of the industry’s highest crew-to-passenger ratios.
One of the standout features of the Seven Seas Prestige will be the Skyview Regent Suite, designed to be the largest suite ever featured on a cruise ship, boasting nearly 9,000 square feet of luxurious space, complete with a spa bath, private gym, and an in-suite elevator. In total, the ship will house 411 suites and introduce four new categories of suites, enhancing the luxury experience. Guests will also be treated to an impressive selection of dining options, including a Mediterranean concept and a total of 11 venues featuring seven specialty restaurants.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Chief Luxury Officer Jason Montague remarked, “This newbuild order continues our measured, strategic expansion within the luxury space. It reflects our confidence in the growing demand for Regent’s best-in-class offering and reaffirms our long-standing partnership with Fincantieri, one rooted in craftsmanship and shared pursuit of perfection.”
As the ultra-luxury segment of the cruise industry experiences rapid growth, fueled by the entry of prestigious hotel brands such as Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, the Seven Seas Prestige stands as a testament to NCLH’s commitment to meeting this rising demand. This launch marks the first new class of cruise ship for Regent Seven Seas in a decade, following their successful Explorer Class, also constructed by Fincantieri. With this ambitious endeavor, NCLH is poised to elevate the standards of luxury cruising.
