TIGHT head prop Inoke Ravuiwasa is optimistic about the Skipper Select team’s preparations for their upcoming clash against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, scheduled for February 6 at Churchill Park. Having assembled earlier this week, the team has had a positive start to their build-up.
“Preparation has been good. Our first day was on Tuesday, and everything has gone well since then,” Ravuiwasa shared. He noted that the players quickly bonded, thanks to their previous experiences in provincial competitions, which allowed for a natural camaraderie to develop. “We know each other from playing against each other in the provincial competition, and when we met on the first day, we bonded well,” he explained.
The discussions among the squad have revealed a strong readiness to face the challenge posed by the Drua. “We’ve talked among ourselves, and the players are ready to play,” Ravuiwasa stated confidently.
The front-rower emphasized that the match serves as an important preparatory opportunity, especially for the upcoming 2026 season. “This is good preparation for the 2026 season because it helps us identify our strengths and our weaknesses,” he noted.
Additionally, Ravuiwasa acknowledged the significant role of developmental pathways in enhancing the team’s overall standard, as many players have progressed through systems like the U20 and Warriors programs. This background has contributed to a higher competitive level within the squad.
The highly anticipated match between Skipper Select and the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is set to take place on February 6 at Churchill Park, providing both teams with a critical chance to showcase their skills and further their preparations for the future.
