Ratu Navula College Sets Sights on Deans Trophy Glory

Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This commitment was highlighted by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, after their quarterfinal success against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, where they won 16-10.

In an interview, Qumi expressed the team’s aspiration to restore the supremacy of Western teams in the national finals. He noted that MGM was considered a strong contender this year and that they had looked up to them upon arriving in Suva due to their impressive performance.

The RNC team displayed a strong defensive strategy in the closing minutes of the match, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. Despite their advancement to the semifinals, Qumi acknowledged that there were areas needing improvement.

“There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he stated. Ratu Navula College is set to face off against the defending champions, Queen Victoria School, in the upcoming semifinal.

Qumi emphasized the importance of their support system, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
