The Rooster Chicken Grassroots Fiji 7s, taking place today and Friday at the HFC Bank Stadium, is set to gain significant recognition with the participation of esteemed international rugby referee Rasta Rasivhenge, who will act as the tournament’s ambassador. His presence not only elevates the event’s status but also highlights the values of fair play, discipline, and respect for officials within the sport.
Gilbert Vakalalabure, Acting CEO of the Fiji Sports Council, expressed the intent behind Rasivhenge’s ambassador role, which is to motivate players, coaches, and supporters while reinforcing rugby’s fundamental values at the community level.
In addition to the thrilling matches, the Rooster Chicken Grassroots Fiji 7s is committed to offering various off-field services throughout the tournament. Free medical check-ups will be accessible to promote health and wellbeing within the rugby community. Moreover, representatives from the National Employment Centre (NEC) will be on-site to connect with individuals seeking employment or career advice, and agents from the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) will provide information about their services and benefits to attendees.
To ensure that families and fans can enjoy the event, organizers have set affordable entry fees of $5 for adults and $3 for children, with free admission for kids under 12.
With its blend of competitive grassroots rugby, the esteemed presence of Rasivhenge, and outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing community welfare, the Rooster Chicken Grassroots Fiji 7s is poised to be a vibrant celebration of rugby and collective spirit at the HFC Bank Stadium, inviting fans to partake in two days of exhilarating action.
