Officers from the Southern Division acted quickly on February 17, 2025, to detain a 19-year-old male suspected of robbery following a report at the Colo-i-Suva Community Post. The accused allegedly stole a woman’s phone and personal items during the incident.

Upon receiving the alert, an officer on duty promptly called for additional assistance. Officers from the Nasinu Police Station, along with a team from the Police Dog Unit, mobilized to investigate the crime. Utilizing tracking technology, police successfully traced the stolen phone using the victim’s partner’s mobile device, leading them to Valelevu where the suspect was arrested. As a result of this swift action, the victim’s belongings were recovered.

The young man has been charged with robbery and appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court, where he was remanded in custody until his next hearing on February 26, 2025.

This incident echoes similar recent events where rapid police responses have highlighted the importance of community safety. For instance, ongoing cases like the aggravated robbery charges against two men in Tamavua illustrate law enforcement’s commitment to combating crime effectively. Each arrest serves as a reminder of the collaborative efforts between the police and the community to foster a sense of security among residents.

Community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement remain crucial as they work together to create safer neighborhoods. Such efforts contribute positively to public confidence and safety, reinforcing the idea that prompt responses from police can deter crime and safeguard the community.
