Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has submitted his application for the position of Police Commissioner.
“Yes, I applied for the post,” he stated. Raikaci expressed that the decision now rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC), but he is prepared to assume the role if selected.
Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of the South Pacific, along with a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice and a Certificate in Law Criminal. He has experience working in various units, including the Uniform Branch and the Crime and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has indicated that the next Police Commissioner of Fiji will be chosen from local candidates within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is set to meet to determine who will lead the police force, following the closure of applications yesterday.
