Corporate social responsibility has increasingly become a standard practice among businesses, and Radisson Blu Resort Fiji is committed to embodying the values of the Radisson Hotel Group, which focuses on “Think People, Community and Planet.” Recently, the resort completed several “Responsible Business” initiatives in Nadi, including efforts in Bukuya Village, located in the interior of Viti Levu. Led by Responsible Business manager Satya Narayan, resort staff and enthusiastic guests participated in activities aimed at supporting and uplifting local communities.
The engagement activities included health checks for staff, a blood donation drive, and cooking classes at village schools. At Bukuya Village, the resort’s Chef Walter and his culinary team held an interactive cooking session for the children at the village school, teaching them valuable cooking skills in an enjoyable manner.
Following the cooking session, the resort provided a nourishing lunch for the children. The resort indicated plans to address areas for improvement identified during the visit, with a commitment to making donations later in the year.
Additionally, Radisson Blu Resort extended its support to Saint Mina’s Children’s Home in Legalega, Nadi. Throughout the week, engineering and landscaping staff dedicated their efforts to building a greenhouse for the home and preparing soil for vegetable planting, involving both guests and staff in this endeavor. This initiative not only offered the children practical gardening experience but also educated them on the significance of fresh food and self-sufficiency. The garden is intended to be a continuous resource for the children, promoting responsibility and a connection to nature.
Charles Homsy, general manager of Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, emphasized that these initiatives are designed to benefit the community while encouraging sustainable practices. He remarked, “These initiatives reflect our ongoing dedication to responsible business and the positive impact we aim to have on the lives of those around us.”
